HTC Reveals HTC One M9 Smartphone with 4K Video Recording[teaser]HTC has detailed its latest flagship mobile handset. [/teaser] At the Mobile World Congress this week, HTC announced its newest smartphone. The HTC One M9 serves as a successor to the company's previous HTC One M7 and M8 models. "HTC has built its reputation on challenging expectations in the mobile industry," said Cher Wang, Chairwoman, HTC. "The HTC One M9 accomplishes this once again with stunning elegance and design, combined with smart features that help bring your world to life, connecting you in a deeper way to the things you consider most important. So much more than just a phone, the HTC One M9 is an extension of who you are." The HTC One M9 features a 5-inch full HD 1080p LCD display along with an elegant all-metal unibody design. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810, octa core 64-bit (4 x 2.0GHz + 4 x 1.5GHz) CPU, 3GB of RAM, and a 2840 mAh battery running Android 5.0 with HTC Sense 7. A 20MP rear camera with 4K video recording support, and an UltraPixel front camera with low-light capture support are included as well. In addition, the device includes HTC BoomSound along with dual front-facing speakers and simulated Dolby 5.1 surround sound. Pricing has not been detailed yet, but the HTC One M9 will launch this Spring through AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon. An unlocked model will also be available through HTC.com. Lenovo Readies Two New Android Tablets with Dolby Atmos Cinema Sound, Models Start at $129[teaser]Two upcoming tablet models will support Dolby's new audio technology. [/teaser] Lenovo has announced the addition of two new Android tablets to its product lineup at the Mobile World Congress. The TAB 2 A10 and the TAB 2 A8 both offer affordable prices and robust entertainment features. "Our new tablets prove that affordability and innovation can be synonymous," said Jeff Meredith, vice president and general manager, Tablets, Mobile Business Group, Lenovo. "In particular, bringing LTE speed and Dolby Atmos cinema sound is expected in premium devices, but we have challenged the norm and delivered these consumer-desired features to our entry A Series in order to elevate the mobile connected experience." The TAB 2 A10 features a 10.1-inch FHD IPS 10-point multitouch display. Under the hood, the tablet is powered by a MediaTek MT8165 64-bit 1.5GHz quad-core CPU, 2GB of RAM, and a 7000mAh battery running Android 4.4 (upgradeable to 5.0 in June). An 8MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera are included as well. Meanwhile, the TAB 2 A8 features an 8-inch HD IPS 5-point multitouch display. Under the hood, the tablet is powered by a MediaTek MT8161 64-bit 1.3GHz quad-core CPU, 1GB of RAM, and a 4290mAh battery running Android 5.0. A 5MP rear camera and a 2MP front camera are included as well. In addition, both tablets offer Dolby Atmos enhanced sound through their integrated speakers and headphones. The Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge feature the latest in mobile technology along with premium Corning Gorilla Glass 4 bodies. Vimeo Adds Chromecast Support for iOS Devices[teaser]Vimeo users can now stream content from their iOS devices to their Chromecast. [/teaser] Vimeo has announced the latest update to its iOS app. The new software adds Chromecast support, allowing customers to cast Vimeo videos from their iPads and iPhones to their TVs. Chromecast owners simply need to download the latest Vimeo app on their iOS devices. After that, they can load up a video, enter fullscreen, and then tap the Chromecast icon. The media will then begin to play on a user's Chromecast connected TV, bringing Vimeo content to the big screen. In addition, customers can continue to browse through Vimeo on their iPads and iPhones while the video plays on the television. Vimeo Chromecast support is currently available through iOS devices only, but support for more gear is expected in the future. The Chromecast is now on sale for $30. Rumored Sony 4K Ultra HD TV Prices & Details Revealed, Models Start at $1,299[teaser]Potential pricing for Sony's upcoming 4K lineup has been leaked. [/teaser] According to a report from HD Guru, prices and first details have been unveiled for Sony's 2015 4K Ultra HD TVs. The entire lineup features 120 Hz refresh rates, the Android TV OS, and PS3 streaming game support. All of the models use flat-screen designs. Sizes range from 43-inches to 75-inches and with the exception of the 830C series, all of the TVs include Sony's Triluminos expanded color technology. Amazon Preps Firefly Search Update for Fire HD Tablets[teaser]The image and media recognition feature is coming to Fire HD tablets. [/teaser] Amazon is preparing an update that will add its Firefly search tool to the retailer's Fire HD line of tablets. Previously, the feature was only found on the company's Fire Phone and premium Fire HDX 8.9 model. With the Firefly search feature customers can use their tablet's camera and microphone to scan, listen for, and identify over 100 million images, logos, bar codes, movies, TV shows, products, and songs. Once identified, the tool gives detailed information about the item along with Amazon purchasing options. We previously tested out Firefly in our full review of the Fire HDX 8.9 and found the tool to be very reliable and pretty handy. Sony Unveils Xperia Z4 Tablet with 2K Display[teaser]First details for the upcoming tablet have been leaked. [/teaser] As reported by the Xperia Blog, Sony recently posted a listing for its latest tablet, the Xperia Z4, on the official Xperia Lounge application. Though the listing has since been removed, the image reveals new details about the device. Full specs including CPU, battery, and camera details have not been revealed yet, but the Xperia Z4 will feature a 2K resolution display. Speculation also points to a 10-inch screen, but we'll have to wait for an official announcement from Sony to find out for sure. Thankfully, consumers likely won't have to wait long, as more details are expected to be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on March 2-5, and the tablet could be available for purchase as early as March 3.
