LG Spotlights New OLED Displays with Videos from CES 2015 Booth, including a Flexible Model in Action[teaser]Check out video footage of the company's latest OLED TVs. For those not lucky enough to be in attendance, the company has shared a few videos to demonstrate the TV's unique design attributes and impressive picture quality features. Check out the clips below to see the 4K OLED TVs in action, including footage of the EG9900 model that can transition from a flat-screen mode into a curved-screen mode. Pricing and availability for LG's new 4K OLED models have not been revealed yet, but the company's current 65EC9700 Ultra HD OLED TV and 55EC930, 55EA9800, and 55EA8800 1080p OLED TVs are available now. Roku Partners with Insignia & Haier for New Roku TV Models and Adds Ultra HD Design Support[teaser]More Roku TVs are on the way. [/teaser] Roku has announced several new developments for its Roku TV platform. 2015 TV models will be released from new and existing manufacturing partners, and the company has made plans to expand to 4K TVs as well. The Roku OS will now be available on select HDTV models from Haier and Insignia. Roku TVs from Insignia will be available from Best Buy starting this spring, and Roku TVs from Haier will be available in the summer. Likewise, current Roku partner, TCL, will be releasing 12 new Roku HDTV models during the first half of 2015. The upcoming displays will feature updated hardware designs while offering customers the same convenient Roku smart TV experience. Finally, Roku has also developed a reference design for 4K Roku TVs. Though no Roku Ultra HD TV models have been announced yet, the company has made the design available to its manufacturing partners and TCL is working to introduce a 4K Roku TV in the future. The Roku TV platform aims to simplify previous smart TV designs, giving users a more streamlined and convenient experience. A home screen serves as a hub for all the TV's content, making it easy for consumers to access live shows and streaming media, which includes the full Roku Channel Store. Sony Expands Home Audio Lineup with New High-Res Soundbars & Receivers with 4K Support[teaser]Two new soundbars and two new A/V receivers have been detailed. [/teaser] Sony has revealed several additions to its line of audio products. The upcoming collection includes the HT-ST9 & HT-NT3 soundbars, and the STR-DN1060 & STR-DN860 A/V receivers. "We have seen such a huge interest from music enthusiasts and consumers who truly value the pure sound quality delivered with Hi-Res," said Mike Woulfe, Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Sony Electronics' Sound Division. "Our new line of products provides consumers with the freedom to listen to music as they go from the bedroom, to the kitchen to the family room, while still delivering a high quality music experience." The HT-ST9 7.1 soundbar features 9 independent speakers and 7 discrete amplifiers along with a wireless subwoofer. The device supports High-Res audio and HDMI with HDCP 2.2 for 4K playback. In addition, the speaker includes networked multi-room capabilities allowing customers to play Google Cast ready music and Spotify Connect on multiple speakers throughout the house through the Sony SongPal Link app. Meanwhile, the HT-NT3 is a 2.1 channel soundbar that offers many of the same features. Finally, the company's 7.2 channel STR-DN1060 & STR-DN860 A/V receivers include support for 4K, multi-room audio connectivity, Hi-Res audio including DSD, Wi-Fi connectivity, AirPlay, Bluetooth, Google Cast, and Spotify Connect. Dell Releases Venue 8 7000, World's Thinnest Tablet with OLED Display for $400[teaser]The company's latest tablet is now available for purchase. [/teaser] Dell has announced the release of its Venue 8 7000. At just 6mm thick, the tablet is said to be the world's thinnest on the market. "The new Dell Venue 8 7000 is the perfect tool for an artist as it combines beautiful, thin design with the performance and features to showcase my work in the best light," said Aerosyn-Lex Mestrovic, visual artist. "With the rich and saturated colors of the eye-popping OLED infinity edge-to-edge screen and more than 4M pixels, I can now accurately show the details of my work while meeting with clients, collectors and collaborators whilst traveling. I also see a ton of opportunity to utilize the 3D editing and measurement tools for my installation projects, such as the works I’ve created for installation at The MoMA or for the SCOPE art fair at Miami Art Basel." The device features an 8.4-inch OLED display with an FHD resolution of 2560x1600 and 10-pt capacitive touch. An 8MP rear camera and a 2MP front camera are integrated as well. Sony Announces VPL-VW350ES Full 4K Home Theater Projector for Under $10,000[teaser]The impressive 4K projector will be available soon. [/teaser] Sony has revealed details for its upcoming VPL-VW350ES projector. Unlike other 4K Ultra HD devices with 3840 x 2160 resolutions, the projector offers a full 4K resolution of 4096 x 2160. Dell Sets January 8 Release for $1,200 UltraSharp 34-Inch Curved-Screen Monitor[teaser]The new curved-screen display will be available for purchase starting tomorrow. [/teaser] Dell has announced a January 8 release date for its latest UltraSharp monitor. The U3415W features a curved screen design, offering an immersive, panoramic field of view ideal for gaming and multi-tasking applications. The monitor features a 21:9, 34-inch IPS panel with a WQHD resolution of 3440x1440. The contrast ratio is rated at 1000 to 1 and the brightness is listed as 300 cd/m2. Sony Highlights New Portable Audio Gear, including Premium Walkman for $1,119[teaser]A new Walkman is part of the company's 2015 portable audio lineup. [/teaser] Sony has revealed its latest portable audio collection at CES 2015. The product line includes a high-res Walkman, Bluetooth headphones, and a Portable DAC/Headphone Amplifier. "We have been focused on developing products that will reproduce the ultimate sound quality from any location," said Mike Woulfe, Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Sony Electronics’ Sound Division. "Sony’s new portable audio line-up represents a new music experience for consumers where environmental restrictions no longer exist and they can freely enjoy the best music, regardless of where they are." The Walkman NW-ZX2 is a portable high-resolution music player that features a 4-inch TRILUMINOS display, 128GB of storage, and a microSD slot. The device offers digital music playback at up to 192 kHz/24 bit and supports MP3, WMA, AAC, FLAC, AIFF, WAV and ALAC file formats including DSD. In addition, the player uses Sony's S-Master HX digital amplifier for a wide frequency response with reduced distortion and noise, and includes DSEE HX technology for upscaling lower-res audio streams. Bluetooth with LDAC, NFC, and Wi-Fi support are integrated as well. Meanwhile, Sony is also releasing the MDR-1ABT Wireless Stereo Headset with high quality Bluetooth audio and up to 30 hours of playback. DISH Preps 4K Joey Ultra HD Set-Top Box[teaser]DISH is now poised to be the first pay-TV provider to release a 4K set-top box. [/teaser] DISH has announced the upcoming launch of its 4K Joey. The Ultra HD set-top box is designed to integrate with DISH’s Hopper Whole Home HD DVR system. “Our new 4K Joey offers the most versatile, future-proofed 4K setup for our customers," said Vivek Khemka, senior vice president of Product Management. "It's easy to install and works with the most 4K televisions, so no matter what brand customers bought over the holiday season, they can enjoy content through DISH." LG Details G Flex2 Curved Smartphone with Full HD OLED Screen[teaser]A new curved-screen mobile handset is on the way. [/teaser] LG has announced the successor to its original G Flex smartphone. The upcoming G Flex2 features improved specs and a more advanced design. "The original G Flex demonstrated LG's pioneering spirit and with the G Flex2 we have refined the curved form factor, staying true to our philosophy of innovation for a better life," said Juno Cho, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. "The G Flex2 not only has the stunning looks, it also has the powerful guts to be at the cutting edge of current smartphone technology. Simply put, it’s a true head-turner in every sense of the word." The smartphone features dynamically curved layers across the front, back, sides and top-to-bottom edges at a radius of 400mm to 700mm, allowing it to conform better to a user's face. The 5.5-inch P-OLED screen offers a full HD resolution of 1920x1080 with 403ppi. Under the hood, the device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor with 2.0GHz 64-bit Octa-Core CPU, Adreno 430 GPU, 2GB DDR4 RAM, and an integrated 3,000mAh battery all running Android 5.0.
