Dirac Research Announces New Bass Enhancement & Management Tech[teaser]The company's latest tech is designed to improve home theater and mobile bass performance.[/teaser] Dirac Research has revealed two new audio developments set to debut at CES 2019. The first, is a Bass Management Add-On Module for the Dirac Live platform. The second, dubbed Dirac Bass, is a bass enhancement solution for smartphones and portable speakers designed to be used with the Dirac Panorama Sound or Dirac Power Sound platforms. "Seven years ago, we introduced the world to Dirac Live, which marked a breakthrough in digital room correction and has since become the industry's reference solution," said Niklas Thorin, Dirac General Manager of High Performance Audio. "Dirac Live set the bar high and helped establish our reputation as the leading pioneer of sound optimization solutions. Our all-new Dirac Live Bass Management Module lives up to the legacy of Dirac Live and proves to the market that wherever we innovate, we lead." The new Bass Management Module will be available as an add-on for the Dirac Live app for desktop (Mac/ PC) and mobile (iOS/ Android) devices. The module is designed to improve bass performance and multi-subwoofer configuration through a proprietary optimization process. In addition, the tech spares users from having to run repeated audible tests by providing the world's first predictive results analysis, enabling customers to view a visual representation of predicted bass performance. The Bass Management module is set to launch in Q2 2019 and will be available in three tiers. Here's a rundown of each option per Dirac: Tier 1 - Allows management of any number of subwoofers, analyzing each one to create a single-optimized sub channel that drives each subwoofer. It also enables precise control of frequency cutoffs for all speakers. Tier 2 - Offers advanced setup for a single subwoofer, while also providing control over parameters and applying frequency filters to all speakers based on measurements. Tier 3 - A free module for all current Dirac Live customers and OEMs, permitting standard bass management with the added benefit of predictive results. "Our tiered approach to Dirac Live Bass Management allows us to deliver a best-in-class solution for all home theater enthusiasts, regardless of their budget or system set-up," said Jakob Argren, Dirac Head of Product Management. "What's more, by optimizing the subwoofer performance in relation to the room dimensions and speaker position, customers are no longer required to place their subs in specific locations, often at odds with the aesthetics of the room, in order to achieve optimal performance." Meanwhile, the company has also detailed is upcoming Dirac Bass solution for mobile devices and portable audio products. The tech is designed to allow smartphones and portable speakers to reproduce deeper bass with higher transparency, achieving a sound similar to larger devices. The process uses psychoacoustics and proprietary advanced sound processing techniques to produce and control artificially-generated overtones, shifting deep bass tones to higher frequencies that can be heard on the micro-speakers used in mobile and portable devices. Using a dynamic NLD (non-linear device), the tech can make bass tones as deep as 30 Hz audible through smartphone speakers. The Dirac Bass solution must be used in conjunction with Dirac Panorama Sound or Dirac Power Sound. "From immersive audio, with Dirac Panorama Sound®, to louder, more powerful audio, with Dirac Power Sound®, our suite of digital audio optimization solutions for small speakers has long redefined the mobile listening experience," stated Erik Rudolphi, Dirac General Manager of Mobile. "Dirac Bass perfectly complements our existing solutions and equips smartphones and small portable speakers with a degree of bass reproduction previously only associated with much larger devices." The Dirac Live Bass Management Module and Dirac Bass will both be demoed at CES 2019 in Las Vegas from January 8-11. Source: Dirac ResearchPosted Tue Dec 18, 2018 at 12:45 PM PST by: -
