Hisense Unveils Advanced TriChroma Laser TV, One Design, and ULED XD Tech[teaser]New cutting-edge display tech has been revealed.[/teaser] Beyond its upcoming 2019 display lineup, Hisense has also detailed three of the company's latest display advancements, including new ULED XD technology, a 4K TriChroma Laser TV, and its new Sonic One design for LCD TVs. Though no US 2019 models have been announced with the tech, Hisense's new ULED XD system promises great improvements in dynamic range, black levels, and brightness through proprietary chip-sets, image processing algorithms, and new dual cell panel technology. The dual-cell ULED XD panel actually layers a 1080p module displaying a grayscale image between a full array LED backlight and a 4K module displaying a full color image. Coupled with quantum dots, this process enables wide color gamut coverage with >82% Rec.2020, 99.98% DCI-P3, and 100% Rec 709, along with 2,900+ nits peak brightness, and the "highest dynamic range ever achieved in LCD" (according to Hisense) with support for HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and HLG. Meanwhile, the company is also touting advancements in its Laser TV tech, with the announcement of a 100-inch TriChroma Laser TV (100L7T). The projector TV system uses a proprietary X-Fusion Laser Light Engine which combines independent red, blue, and green lasers to produce a color gamut wider than any other display model. According to Hisense, the 100L7T is now the first product to achieve Rec.2100 (Rec.2020 color space with HDR extensions). In addition, the system utilizes a TI DLP Chip, and offers 3,500-lumens, an Ambient Light Rejecting Screen, a Micro-smooth Response Time, and Harman Kardon audio. Finally, Hisense spotlighted its new Sonic One LCD TV design as well. According to the company, the new design results in "the world's thinnest self-contained LCD" (the unit includes the audio chamber and video inputs). The Sonic One features a maximum depth of less than 1.1" and incorporates a bezel-less edge-to-edge screen. In addition, the design uses piezoelectric drivers which turn the panel into the actual speaker. Pricing and availability for the 100L7T have not been announced yet. Likewise, specific US TV models with ULED XD technology and the Sonic One have not been detailed. Source: HisensePosted Mon Jan 7, 2019 at 11:00 AM PST by: -
LG Announces First Rollable OLED TV Model[teaser]The company's first consumer rollable OLED display is being showcased at CES.[/teaser] After debuting prototype models at previous tradeshows, LG has officially unveiled its first consumer-ready rollable OLED TV model. The new LG SIGNATURE OLED TV R (model 65R9) can actually be curled up into its base, offering new viewing options. The 65-inch Rollable 4K display takes advantage of flexible OLED panel technology to enable the screen to be rolled up and hidden inside its rectangular base through the press of a button. In addition, the retractable screen gives users three different viewing options: Full View, Line View and Zero View. Full View presents the entire screen, allowing users to enjoy the panel's premium OLED picture powered by LG's second generation α (Alpha) 9 intelligent processor with deep learning algorithm and ThinQ AI. Meanwhile, Line View partially rolls the screen, keeping only a small portion of the panel above the base. This enables specific tasks that don't require a full screen, including checking the time and weather, and viewing family photos. Finally, Zero View keeps the entire display rolled up and hidden from view in the base. With that said, even when the panel is out of sight, users can still listen to music and other audio content from the TV's 4.2-channel, 100W front-firing Dolby Atmos audio system. Exact pricing and availability have not been announced yet, but the LG SIGNATURE OLED TV R will be on display at the company's CES 2019 booth in Las Vegas from January 8 through January 11. And beyond the new rollable model, LG's 2019 OLED lineup also includes the 8K Z9, and 4K W9, 4K E9, and 4K C9 series TVs. Source: LGPosted Mon Jan 7, 2019 at 09:00 AM PST by: -

Samsung Reveals New MicroLED Displays[teaser]Several new modular display models have been announced.[/teaser] To coincide with CES 2019, Samsung has unveiled three new MicroLED displays. The lineup includes the 75" MicroLED 4K TV, The Wall 219" MicroLED display, and The Window MicroLED display. "For decades, Samsung has led the way in next-generation display innovation," said Jonghee Han, President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics.
