Panasonic Details Technics EAH-T700 Over-Ear Premium Stereo Headphones[teaser]The new headphones are geared toward audiophiles. [/teaser] Panasonic has revealed the latest addition to its Technics brand of high performance audio products. The EAH-T700 headphones combine premium audio quality with a comfortable ergonomic design. The headphones feature an angled driver system with a 50mm dynamic driver for high-res sound in the mids and lows, and a 14mm super tweeter for high frequencies, providing 100kHz wideband audio reproduction. In addition, the device uses a Floating Dynamic Driver & Anti-vibration Driver Frame to help eliminate unnecessary resonance and vibrations. Finally, ergonomic 3D ear pads are included for comfort. Pricing has not been announced yet, but Panasonic's Technics EAH-T700 Over-Ear Premium Stereo Headphones are expected to start shipping early next year. Sony Reveals MP-CL1 HD Mobile Pico Projector, Price Set at $350[teaser]The company has detailed its first pico projector. [/teaser] Sony has announced the latest addition to its projector lineup. The MP-CL1 is a compact, mobile HD projector. "This is Sony's first stand-alone Pico projector, but not our first projector," said Viviano Cantu, Director Product Marketing, Media & Applications Solutions Division. "We combined the best of everything we've learned over years of designing large and small projection technologies for the home and office, and the result is this on-the-go mobile projector that easily turns virtually any surface into an HD theater through a simple Wi-Fi or HDMI connection." The portable short throw projector uses Laser Beam Scanning tech to deliver 1920 x 720 resolution images. The device also features an 80,000:1 contrast ratio, WiFi or HDMI/MHL connectivity, and an integrated 3400mAh battery. In addition, the MP-CL1 can display a screen size of up to 120-inches and is capable of focus-free projection. Sony's MP-CL1 will be available in October for $350. Dolby Announces New Partnerships for Dolby Vision Ultra HD Video Chipsets[teaser]Several companies will offer Dolby Vision SoCs for various devices. [/teaser] Dolby has announced partnerships with Realtek, HiSilicon and MediaTek to provide Dolby Vision System-on-Chips (SoCs) for multiple playback devices. Through these new SoCs, the Dolby Vision technology can be incorporated into Ultra HD set-top-boxes, Smart TVs, Over-the-Top (OTT) online streaming, Ultra HD Blu-ray players and Digital Media Adapters (DMAs). Dolby Vision is a video technology that uses high dynamic range and wide color gamuts to create and display content with superior brightness, contrast, and pop. Dolby Vision VS10 also has the benefit of being a universal HDR playback solution, allowing the tech to support Dolby Vision content and other HDR formats based on the SMPTE ST 2084 standard. VIZIO will be the first company to release Dolby Vision Ultra HD TVs with its upcoming Reference Series displays. Likewise, Chinese manufacturers TCL and Skyworth have also announced plans to release Dolby Vision products. Meanwhile, Warner Bros., VUDU, and Netflix will all be providing Dolby Vision graded content. Specific products that will use the new Realtek, HiSilicon and MediaTek SoCs have not been announced yet. Sony Highlights New Home Cinema Projectors, Including 4K Models[teaser]Three upcoming projector models have been detailed. [/teaser] During the company's IFA 2015 press conference, Sony revealed several additions to its projector lineup. The new models include the VPL-VW520ES, VPL-VW320ES, and VPL-HW65ES. The VPL-VW520ES and VPL-VW320ES are both native 4K projector models with SXRD panels, Sony’s proprietary TRILUMINOs engine, Motionflow picture technology, and built-in RF 3D transmitters. Likewise, both projectors include HDMI connectivity with HDCP 2.2 compliancy and long-lasting lamps for up to 6,000 hours of performance. In addition, the VPL-VW520ES offers HDR (high dynamic range) support and features a 300,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. Meanwhile, for customers not yet ready for Ultra HD, Sony is also releasing the VPL-HW65ES Full HD projector with a 120,000:1 contrast ratio. "These new 4K projectors from Sony demonstrate our commitment to the native 4K resolution and HDR imagery, which guarantees the most immersive cinematic experience. Our projectors further support this through SXRD technology to achieve high-resolution images without the need to compromise between deep contrast and motion capabilities. We want our customers to enjoy true 4K, whether it is in a dedicated dark room or a living room," said Thomas Issa, Product Manager at Sony Professional Europe. LG Launches High Dynamic Range Streaming on OLED 4K Ultra HD TVs via Amazon Instant Video[teaser]Amazon is the first service to offer HDR streaming content on LG OLED models. [/teaser] LG has announced the launch of high dynamic range streaming on its line of supported OLED Ultra HD TVs. The current crop of high dynamic range content is being provided through Amazon Instant Video. "LG is committed to delivering the best viewing experience, and it doesn’t get any better than HDR content on an OLED 4K display," said Tim Alessi, head of new product development, LG Electronics USA. "Amazon has played an invaluable role in helping LG bring consumers the best way to enjoy streaming content and an incredible HDR experience." High Dynamic Range displays and content provide enhanced levels of brightness and contrast, resulting in more realistic images with greater highlights and more detailed shadows. HDR support will be integrated into the upcoming LG 65EF9500 and 55EF9500 flat-screen OLED Ultra HD TVs. Likewise, HDR support has also recently been added to the 65EG9600 and 55EG9600 curved-screen OLED HD TVs through a firmware upgrade. Currently, Amazon is offering the first season of it original series 'Mozart in the Jungle' and 'Transparent,' along with the pilot episode of 'Red Oaks' in the HDR format. Sony Expands High Dynamic Range Support to More 2015 4K Ultra HD TV Models[teaser]The company is releasing an HDR software update for select TVs. [/teaser] Sony has announced plans to bring high dynamic range support to more of its Ultra HD TVs. HDR compatibility will be added to several 2015 4K displays via an upcoming network update. "Sony is pleased to be expanding HDR compatibility for our 4K Ultra HD televisions. Sony has always been a leader in HDR, from our HDR-enabled professional cameras, to Sony Pictures produced and edited HDR content, to our expanded line of HDR compatible TVs, only Sony can bring you the full HDR viewing experience from the lens to the living room." said Motoi Kawamura, General Manager for TV Product Planning and Marketing in Europe. High dynamic range displays and content offer greater brightness and contrast levels, allowing for superior details in highlights and shadows. HDR support is already integrated into the XBR-75X940C and XBR-65X930C, and support will be added to the XBR-75X910C, XBR-65X900C, XBR-55X900C, XBR-75X850C, XBR-65X850C, and XBR-55X850C through a software update. Samsung Announces Ultra HD Blu-ray Player with Fox Ultra HD Blu-rays, Release set for Early 2016[teaser]The company's first Ultra HD Blu-ray player has been revealed. [/teaser] During its IFA 2015 press conference, Samsung revealed its upcoming Ultra HD Blu-ray player, the UBD-K8500. The device features a curved design and will support disc playback and Ultra HD streaming services. The Ultra HD Blu-ray spec supports video at up to 3840x2160 resolution, expanded color gamuts, high dynamic range, high frame rate content, and object-based audio tech like Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. To coincide with Samsung's new player, Fox has also announced plans to release its upcoming titles on Ultra HD Blu-ray with high dynamic range support, including recent films like 'Kingsman: The Secret Service,' 'Exodus: Gods and Kings,' 'Fantastic Four,' 'X-Men: Days of Future Past,' 'Life of Pi,' 'The Maze Runner' and 'Wild.' The 65-inch display uses an OLED Ultra HD panel capable of absolute black levels, offering superior contrast, uniformity, and viewing angles over traditional LCD sets. In addition, the TV features a specially modified version of the powerful professional-level 4K Studio Master Processor, a True Cinema picture preset fine-tuned by leading Hollywood colorist Mike Sowa, and THX certification, ensuring an accurate picture that stays true to a director's intent. Finally, the display also offers support for high dynamic range content and meets the recently announced CEA HDR guidelines. "Panasonic is proving their commitment to excellence by engineering their newest 4K Pro TV to satisfy my professional standard of zero compromise. My world of visual storytelling is based around color accuracy and the need for a display that compliments the creative vision. Sony Details New Headphones & Walkman Models with High-Res Audio Support[teaser]The new audio products feature vibrant color options and support for High-Res sound. [/teaser] During its IFA 2015 press conference, Sony announced several additions to its audio lineup. The new products include the h.ear (pronounced "hear") on headphones, and the NW-A25HN Walkman and NW-ZX100HN Walkman. The "h.ear on" headphones will be available in over-the-head (with 40mm HD drivers which reproduce sounds up to 60 kHz) and in-ear style models. The latter option will have the distinction of being the first in-ear Hi-Res headphones to be equipped with a digital noise canceling feature. Meanwhile, the NW-A25HN Walkman is a compact model with noise-canceling tech and included headphones. Finally, the NW-ZX100HN is a premium Walkman model that offers continuous Hi-Res playback for up to 45 hours. Pricing for the new Walkman models has not been announced, but they are expected to start shipping in October. The h.ear headphones are set to launch in November for about $200.
