Sony Expands Home Audio Lineup with New Soundbar Systems & Receivers[teaser]Several new audio products have been revealed. [/teaser] Sony has announced the latest additions to its home audio collection. The lineup includes the HT-NT5 High-Resolution Audio Sound Bar, HT-CT790/CT390 Sound Bars, HT-XT2 Sound Base, HT-RT3 5.1ch surround Sound Bar system, and the STR-DN1070 and STR-DH770 7.2-channel AV receivers. The HT-NT5 is a premium soundbar model with a low-profile aluminum chassis design and six individual speakers driven by their own dedicated amplifiers, along with a Sigma subwoofer unit with dual magnets. HDMI 2.0 pass-through with HDCP compliancy is included as well, offering support for 4K HDR video. Likewise, the soundbar features high-res audio playback and can also be paired with additional multi-room compatible wireless speakers for wireless surround sound. Meanwhile, the HT-CT790 is a 330W soundbar that uses Sony's S-Force Pro and newly designed sound deflector to create a wide soundstage. The sound deflector is also integrated into the 300W HT-CT390 2.1 channel soundbar. Designed to sit under a user's TV, the HT-XT2 Sound Base is a 2.1ch speaker system with an integrated subwoofer and 170W of power. For customers looking for a 5.1 solution, Sony is also offering the HT-RT3 5.1ch surround Sound Bar system with 600W of power, a subwoofer, and included rear speakers. Finally, the company is also releasing the new STR-DN1070 and STR-DH770 7.2-channel AV receivers. The former uses a new DAC (Digital to Audio Converter) and supports DSD native playback for high-res audio. The latter includes Front Surround DSP technology and the latest 4K video standards. DISH Announces Hopper 3 Whole-Home DVR with 4K Support and Ultra HD Content from Sony & Netflix[teaser]The company's latest DVR includes 4K support. [/teaser] DISH has unveiled its newest Hopper device. The Hopper 3 includes several new features and 4K on-demand playback. "Today we are giving consumers even more choice and control over their viewing experience by introducing the most advanced DVR in the world, while also redefining the mobile viewing experience," said Vivek Khemka, DISH Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer. "Hopper 3 is more than just a DVR; it's an entertainment hub that supports and centralizes the various content types popular today, like streaming apps and Ultra HD, while engineered to adapt with the trends on the horizon, like linear 4K." The Hopper 3 features 16 tuners, allowing customers to watch shows in multiple rooms, remotely view live content through DISH Anywhere, and schedule multiple recordings at the same time without any pesky conflicts. Under the hood, the device runs a Broadcom BCM7445 quad-core ARM application processor at 1.5 GHz, 21K DMIPS and features a 2TB hard drive for up to 500 hours of high-definition recording (or 2,000 hours of standard definition recording). For 4K playback, the Hopper 3 can decode and output 60 FPS and 10-bit color and can support H.264 and H.265. The device also supports HDMI 2.0 with HDCP 2.2, USB 3.0, and HDR10/BDA 2.0 encoded streams. In addition, DISH has announced partnerships with Sony Pictures, The Orchard and Mance Media to offer on-demand Ultra HD content to the Hopper 3 and 4K Joey, including popular titles like 'The Amazing Spiderman' and 'American Hustle.' Likewise, the unit includes Netflix access with 4K playback and integration into the Hopper's universal search results. Klipsch Details Audio Lineup for CES 2016, Including Wireless Speakers & New Soundbars[teaser]Several audio products are on display now. [/teaser] To celebrate its 70th anniversary, Klipsch is demonstrating its latest audio lineup at CES. The collection includes the Reference Premiere HD Wireless speakers, the R-15PM powered monitors, several new soundbars, new Bluetooth speakers, and more. The Reference Premiere HD Wireless speakers use the company's Reference Premiere acoustic platform along with an HD Control Center for lossless, wireless audio transmission using WiSA technology. The series includes tower speakers RP-440W ($999 each), monitor speakers RP-140WM ($999 pair), a center channel speaker RP-440WC ($499 each), and a subwoofer RP-110WSW ($799 each) that are all modeled after the company's Reference Premiere series. In addition, the HD Control Center ($499 each) smart distribution hub "processes multi-channel inputs and distributes them wirelessly with transmission of up to 24 bit/96kHz." The Reference Premiere HD Wireless speakers will be available in March at Magnolia Home Theater and Magnolia Design Center stores. Pioneer Brings High-Res Audio Gear to CES 2016, Including Stereo Receiver, DAP, and Headphones[teaser]Headphones, a receiver, and a digital audio player are among the devices on display at the show. [/teaser] Following their debut at CEDIA 2015, Pioneer has announced the launch of their XDP-100R Digital Audio Player ($700) and the SX-N30 Network Stereo Receiver ($600). In addition, the company has released more details for its SE-MASTER1 Headphones ($2,500). All three audio products are now on display at CES from January 6-9. The SE-MASTER1 Headphones are handcrafted, reference-grade headphones with 50 mm driver units with a 25 µm aluminum diaphragm finished with a Parker Ceramic Coating. In addition, the headphones will support high-resolution audio of up to 85.000 Hz. Samsung Unveils 2016 SUHD TV Lineup with HDR, Quantum Dot, and Bezel-Less Curved Models[teaser]The company's newest 4K TVs have been detailed. [/teaser] Samsung has revealed the latest additions to its SUHD TV lineup. The collection will range in size from 49-inches to 88-inches across five series. "Our new SUHD TVs represent our singular focus on innovation that matters most to consumers, by providing the very best picture quality for the home," said Hyun Suk Kim, President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. "In 2016, we’re going beyond anything we've done before to offer a remarkable synergy of design, engineering and craftsmanship." Samsung's 2016 SUHD TVs will use cadmium-free, 10-bit Quantum dot displays. HDR support with 1,000 nit minimum will be included as well. In addition, the KS9500 model features a special bezel-less curved-screen design. The displays will also come equipped with the Tizen Smart TV platform along with the new Smart Hub and Smart Control Remote, and IoT hub connected home technology. [/teaser] Sharp has announced its latest Ultra HD TV lineup. The upcoming collection of 4K displays includes seven series in sizes ranging from 43-inches to 70-inches. The X1 QUHD TV features advanced picture quality features like Dolby Vision and Quantum Dots.
