Optoma Showcases 4K UHD DLP Ultra Short Throw Laser Projector[teaser]The new Ultra HD projector is the first of its kind. [/teaser] During the 2016 InfoComm tradeshow, Optoma revealed its latest projectors. The new models include an industry first 4K UHD DLP Ultra Short Throw Laser Projector and the new ZU510T WUGXA DLP Laser Projector. "Optoma is the second largest selling projector brand in the U.S. according to PMA, and the company has had a reputation for quality and reliability in the channels we have focused on," said Robert Sterzing, president, Optoma Technology. "As a brand, we're relatively new to the ProAV channel, but it became a top priority in 2015 and today we’re a top five seller in the channel. By focusing on quality and reliability – along with innovation and flexibility – we're listening to the market and manufacturing projectors that meet the needs of ProAV customers." The 4K UHD DLP Ultra Short Throw Laser Projector is capable of displaying a 100 inch image from just two inches away. The projector offers 4K resolution with over 8 million pixels, 3,300 lumens of brightness, H.265 multimedia playback, and support for the Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system. Meanwhile, the ZU510T WUGXA DLP Laser Projector is a WUXGA projector with 5,500 lumens. Likewise, the projector offers a fixed lens with horizontal and vertical lens shift, providing a 1.2:1 - 2.16:1 throw ratio and a digital zoom of 1.8x. 10W speakers and a variety of inputs are integrated as well, including two HDMI connections and HDBaseT. Exact release dates have not been announced yet, but the 4K UHD DLP Ultra Short Throw Laser Projector is expected to arrive in Q1 2017. Sony Details VPL-HW45ES Full HD 3D Home Theater Projector, MSRP Set for $2,000[teaser]The company's latest projector has been revealed. [/teaser] Sony has announced the release of its newest home theater projector. The VPL-HW45ES ($2,000) now joins the previously released VPL-HW65ES ($4,000). The projector uses a Full HD 3-chip imaging system with Sony's SXRD panel, advanced Reality Creation technology, and Super Resolution processing. In addition, the VPL-HW45ES is rated for 1,800 lumens of brightness and up to 6,000 hours of operation time with its long lasting lamp. A wide lens shift range, manual zoom, and whisper quiet fan are integrated as well. Finally, the projector also offers a built in RF 3D transmitter, nine customizable picture modes, and MotionFlow technology to reduce image blur in fast moving scenes. Sony's VPL-HW45ES is now available for a suggested retail price of $2,000. Beyond its 1080p projectors, Sony also offers several 4K Ultra HD models, including the he VPL-VW365ES ($9,999) and the VPL-VW665ES ($14,999). The VPL-VW365ES is a native 4K projector with an SXRD panel, Sony’s proprietary TRILUMINOs engine, Motionflow picture technology, and a built-in RF 3D transmitter. Likewise, the projector includes HDMI connectivity with HDCP 2.2 compliancy and a long-lasting lamp for up to 6,000 hours of performance. Netflix Acquires Houda Benyamina's 'Divines,' Streaming Premiere Set for Later This Year[teaser]The critically acclaimed film is heading to Netflix. The movie is the directorial debut of filmmaker Houda Benyamina and recently won the Caméra d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. The funny, often suspenseful and emotional drama tells the story of Dounia, a tough, but naive teenager who sees getting rich or dying trying as her most viable option. Set in a ghetto near Paris where drugs and religion reign supreme, Dounia is hungry for her share of power and success. Enlisting the help of her best friend she decides to follow the footsteps of a respected dealer. When Dounia meets a young sensuous dancer, her life takes a surprising turn. Though an exact release date has not been announced, the movie is set to premiere globally (except for France) on Netflix later this year. Netflix Readies New Preschool Series 'Julie's Greenroom' Starring Julie Andrews[teaser]The upcoming kids show will celebrate the performing arts with Julie Andrews... and puppets! Johannesburg Set to Host the First Studio Audience for Amazon's 'The Grand Tour'[teaser]Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond & James May are heading to South Africa.
