The new Android and Windows tablets offer updated features and IPS displays.
Lenovo has detailed the latest additions to its Yoga line of tablets. The new models include the Yoga Tablet 2 and the Yoga Tablet 2 Pro.
"Our second generation YOGA Tablets give users the freedom to do more – go hands free and hang the tablet from the wall with the new Hang mode; get unparalleled sound on a tablet with loaded audio features; and choose the operating system that's right for them - Android or Windows," said Jeff Meredith, vice president, Marketing, Lenovo Mobile Business Group. "Also for those who crave multimedia on a bigger screen, we've created a new 13-in model with the YOGA Tablet 2 Pro. So all in all, the tablets give you more modes, more performance and more choice."
The Yoga Tablet 2 comes in 8-inch and 10-inch models with options for Android and Windows operating systems. Each device features a 1920 x 1200 IPS display and is powered by an Intel Atom processor. An 8MP rear camera and a 1.6MP front camera is included as well, and the tablets are rated for up to 18 hours of battery life. Meanwhile, the company is also releasing the Yoga Tablet 2 Pro. This Android model features a larger 13.3-inch IPS display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440. As an added bonus, the Pro model also includes an integrated Pico Projector, allowing users to project high-res 16:9 images on any surface at up to 50-inches.
The Android Powered Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 8-inch model is available now for a starting price of $250. The 10-inch Android model is also on sale now starting at $300. Meanwhile, the Windows 8-inch model will be available in November starting at $300, and the 10-inch Windows model will go on sale at the end of October for a base price of $400. Finally, the Android Yoga Tablet 2 Pro is expected to start shipping by the end of the month for a suggested starting price of $500.
