HTC One Max Smartphone Officially Detailed

The 5.9-inch phablet is aimed at offering consumers a larger version of the company's HTC One along with some new features.

HTC has unveiled its One Max smartphone. The mobile device is designed as a larger alternative to its HTC One 4.7-inch phone. With a 5.9-inch 1080p display, the One Max sacrifices some of its predecessor's portability for a much larger tablet-like screen size.

"The addition of the HTC One max means that we now have an HTC One phone for everyone. The family has been built on quality and game-changing innovations and the HTC One max is certainly no exception," said Peter Chou, CEO of HTC Corporation. "The upgrade to HTC Sense 5.5 will provide our most amazing mobile experience yet, with the HTC One max delivering the size and power required to do everything you want, and more, without compromise."

The smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 1.7GHz quad-core CPU, along with 2GB of RAM, and an integrated 3300 mAh battery, all running Android 4.3 with HTC Sense 5.5. An HTC UltraPixel rear camera and a 2.1MP front camera are also included. 16GB or 32GB storage options are available, and a microSD slot is provided for expandable memory. In addition, new to this model, is a Fingerprint Scan feature located on the back of the phone that lets users lock or unlock the device by swiping their finger on the scanner.

The HTC One Max will be available later this month through US carriers like Verizon and Sprint. An exact release date and pricing have not been detailed yet.
