Amazon Studios Acquires Woody Allen's Upcoming Film Starring Steve Carell

The director's new untitled feature length film has been acquired by Amazon Studios for theatrical and streaming exhibition.  

Amazon Studios has announced the acquisition of Woody Allen's latest movie. The deal covers all North American rights for the film's upcoming release, including theatrical and streaming.

"Like all beginning relationships, there is much hope, mutual affection, and genuine goodwill -- the lawsuits come later," said Allen. 

The still untitled film is a romantic comedy that takes place in the 1930s. The movie stars Jeannie BerlinSteve CarellJesse EisenbergBlake LivelyParker PoseyKristen StewartCorey Stoll and Ken Stott. Shooting took place last summer on location in New York and Los Angeles. The film is being produced by Allen’s longtime collaborator, Letty Aronson, as well as Steve Tenenbaum and Edward Walson. Executive producers also include Ronald L. Chez, Adam B. Stern, and Marc I. Stern. In addition to the upcoming feature length movie, Woody Allen is also writing and directing a six episode TV series for Amazon as well. The show will star Woody Allen, Elaine May, and Miley Cyrus, and is being executive produced by Erika Aronson and produced by Helen Robin. Plot details are unknown at this time, but the series is scheduled to begin filming next month.

"Woody Allen is a brilliant filmmaker," said Roy Price, Head of Amazon Studios. "We're so proud to be in business with him for both his next film and his first ever TV series."

Amazon Studios will debut Woody Allen's upcoming untitled feature length film in theaters this summer with a traditional, nationwide theatrical release. Following the film's theatrical run, the movie will then be made available for streaming exclusively to Amazon Prime members through Prime Video.
