Texas Instruments Develops DLP Pico 1080p Display Chipset to Enable Full HD Projection from Compact Devices

The new chipset can generate 1080p projected images from small mobile components. 

Texas Instruments has revealed its newest DLP chipsets. The 0.47" TRP Full-HD 1080p chipset is the company's smallest DLP Pico 1080p display chipset and is based on the same DLP Cinema technology used in movie theaters worldwide.

Geared toward small form-factor video and data display applications, the 0.47" TRP Full-HD 1080p chipset is capable of full HD resolution and low power consumption, making it ideal for mobile devices and battery-powered components like portable projectors and wearables. In addition, the chipset uses the company's Proprietary TI DLP TRP architecture and adaptive DLP IntelliBright algorithms to offer up to 100 percent higher brightness or up to 50 percent lower power consumption than previous models. 

Specific devices that will use the new chipset have not been announced yet, but sampling has commenced for third party manufacurers.
