The first 4K Roku TVs will arrive in the spring.
Roku and TCL have announced their first Ultra HD TV models. The TCL 4K Roku TVs will offer UHD resolution along with the full Roku smart TV experience.
"The introduction of 4K UHD TCL Roku TV models is a significant step in our partnership with Roku," said Chris Larson, vice president of sales and marketing, TCL. "We're confident we'll deliver one of the richest experiences available on a 4K smart TV, and that consumers will love the complete 4K entertainment package these TVs deliver. TCL is also thrilled to be one of the first partners using the new Roku TV HDR reference design to enhance the great picture quality of TCL Roku TVs."
The Roku 4K TVs will use the company's Roku OS and offer access to a growing collection of 4K UHD streaming channels and unique features like Roku’s 4K Spotlight Channel. TCL Roku Ultra HD TVs will launch in two series, the US5800 and the UP130. Sizes will range from 43-inches to 65-inches. In addition, Roku has also announced the release of the Roku TV HDR reference design, allowing TV partners to incorporate HDR technology into future 4K UHD Roku TV models. The company is also working with Dolby to include support for Dolby Vision into the design, as well as the HDR 10 standard.
Pricing has not been detailed yet, but TCL's first Roku 4K Ultra HD TVs will launch in the spring. Roku 4K TVs from other manufacturers are also expected to arrive later this year. The TCL Roku 4K UHD TVs will be on display at CES this week in Las Vegas.
