The popular streaming platform will soon offer archive games.
The NFL and YouTube have announced a renewal of their partnership. The deal will now bring even more digital NFL content to the streaming site.
"This expansion of our partnership will make it easier than ever for the millions of highly engaged avid and casual fans on YouTube and Google to discover and access an even greater variety of some of the most valuable content in the sports and entertainment business," said Hans Schroeder, Senior Vice President, Media Strategy, Business Development, & Sales for the National Football League. "Our fans continue to demonstrate an insatiable appetite for NFL digital video content online."
As part of the renewal, the NFL will continue to offer game previews, in-game highlights, post-game recaps, news, analysis, fantasy football advice, and other select content from NFL Media properties through their YouTube channel. Likewise, the NFL will also add classic games from the league's history, including three of the most memorable games from each of the 32 clubs in the NFL. The classic games will be posted to the NFL's official channel on YouTube before the 2016 season kicks off. In addition, select NFL content uploaded to YouTube during live games will now be available through Google Search. After searching for a team through Google, a box at the top of the results will offer official NFL video along with related news and information.
"YouTube has always been the home for sports highlights on the internet, and we look forward to giving football fans around the globe access to even more of the content they love," said Jonathan Zepp, head of North America Direct Content Partnerships, YouTube.
NFL content on YouTube has now amassed over 900 million views since the league launched its channel in 2015. Beyond YouTube, the NFL also recently announced a partnership with Twitter to stream upcoming Thursday Night Football games. The 2016 NFL Regular Season will kick off on Thursday, September 8.
