The animated flicks starring Steve Carell are coming to Ultra HD Blu-ray in June.
In an early announcement to retailers, Universal is prepping Despicable Me and Despicable Me 2 for Ultra HD Blu-ray on June 6. And though not officially announced by the studio yet, the packaging on Amazon indicates that the discs will be among the first Ultra HD Blu-rays to feature Dolby Vision.
The Dolby Vision process combines scene-by-scene high dynamic range mastering and an expanded color palette to produce enhanced brightness and contrast along with more life-like colors. The format is integrated into several existing and upcoming Ultra HD TV models from VIZIO, LeEco, TCL, Sony, Hisense, Philips, and LG.
In addition to a compatible display, users will also need an Ultra HD Blu-ray player with Dolby Vision support in order to enjoy Dolby Vision playback on encoded discs. Of the Ultra HD Blu-ray players announced so far, only the upcoming LG UP970, Philips BDP7502, and the recently released Oppo UDP-203 have confirmed plans for Dolby Vision support.
Below is a look at the Despicable Me back cover with the Dolby Vision logo and listing:

Despicable Me - When a criminal mastermind uses a trio of orphan girls as pawns for a grand scheme, he finds their love is profoundly changing him for the better.
The Ultra HD Blu-ray will feature 2160p video with HDR10 and Dolby Vision along with a DTS:X soundtrack. Supplements will mirror those found on the previous Blu-ray release.
Suggested list price for the Ultra HD Blu-ray is $39.98. Curiously, Amazon currently has two listings for the disc, with one apparently set to include Despicable Me 3 Fandango Cash -- though that distinction has since been removed from the page.
Despicable Me 2 - When Gru, the world's most super-bad turned super-dad has been recruited by a team of officials to stop lethal muscle and a host of Gru's own, He has to fight back with new gadgetry, cars, and more minion madness.
