Coming Soon to Blu-ray: Tag, Hocus Pocus, and More

Films starring Ed Helms, Jeremy Renner, Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and more are all in the works for Blu-ray.

New info has been revealed for several upcoming Blu-rays from Warner Bros., FilmRise, Disney, Magnolia, Ministry of Cinema, Lionsgate, and Funimation.

Here's a full rundown of recently revealed details and title announcements: 

As previously reported, Warner Bros. is prepping Jeff Tomsic's Tag starring Ed Helms, Jake Johnson, Jon Ham, Jeremy Renner, Rashida Jones, and Isla Fisher for Blu-ray, and now the release date has been set for August 28. Supplements will include:

  • Bloopers
  • Deleted Scenes
  • Meet the Real Tag Brothers Featurette

Meanwhile, the studio is set to release CBS' Young Sheldon: The Complete First Season starring Iain Armitage, Zoe Perry, Lance Barber, Annie Potts, and Montana Jordan on September 4. No other details have been announced at this time.

In addition, a DC 5 Film Collection starring Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Will Smith, and Margot Robbie is in the works for October 2. The collection will include:

  • Man of Steel
  • Batman v Superman
  • Suicide Squad
  • Wonder Woman
  • Justice League

Likewise, Pokemon: The Movies 1-3 Collection starring Rica Matsumoto, Ikue Ôtani, and Yûji Ueda is due to arrive on October 2 as well. The collection will include:

  • Pokémon: The First Movie
  • Pokémon: The Movie 2000
  • Pokémon 3: The Movie

The anime series Terra Formars: Revenge will then follow on October 16. Supplements will include:

  • Interviews
  • Clean Opening and Ending
  • Art Gallery
  • Trailers

And rounding out Warner's upcoming lineup will be Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas: The Ultimate Edition starring Boris Karloff on October 23. The package will include:

  • How the Grinch Stole Christmas
  • The Grinch Grinches The Cat in the Hat
  • Halloween is Grinch Night

 

 

 

 

 

 

FilmRise is bringing Selma Vilhunen's documentary Hobbyhorse Revolution to Blu-ray on August 28. Supplements have not been detailed at this time. 

Likewise, the label will release John Keating's documentary GameChangers: Dreams of BlizzCon on August 28 as well. No other details are currently listed for the disc.

In addition, Clio Barnard's Dark River starring Ruth Wilson, Mark Stanley, and Sean Bean is being prepped for Blu-ray on September 4. Supplements have not been revealed at this time.

Meanwhile, Simon Baker's Breath starring Simon Baker, Samson Coulter, Ben Spence, and Elizabeth Debicki is set to hit Blu-ray on October 1. No other info has been announced for the disc.

And capping off FilmRise's upcoming lineup will be Jake Oelman's documentary Learning to See: The World of Insects on November 13. Supplements have not been detailed at this time.

 

 

 

 

 

Disney is set to release Kenny Ortega's Hocus Pocus: 25th Anniversary Edition starring Bette Midler, Thora Birch, Kathy Najimy, and Sarah Jessica Parker on September 4. A Best Buy Exclusive SteelBook Edition will also be available that same day.  Supplements will include:

  • We ♥︎ Hocus Pocus: Trivia and Treats Edition – A spellbinding new way to experience the film with:
    • Fun facts and trivia
    • Deleted scenes
    • Cast and crew commentary
    • Concept art and storyboards

In addition, the studio is preparing Henry Selick's The Nightmare Before Christmas: 25th Anniversary Edition for Blu-ray on September 4 as well. Supplements will include:

  • ALL-NEW - Song Selection – Shriek along with the ghoulish tunes from the movie, or just lend an ear if you find singing to be particularly ghastly.
  • Tim Burton's Early Film: "Vincent" – Vincent Price himself narrates this stop-motion tale of little Vincent Malloy and his fascination with the macabre.
  • Posters – Take a look at some promotional posters from the movie's release.
  • The making Of
  • Deleted Storyboards
  • Deleted Animated Sequences
  • Tim Burton's Early Film: "Frankenweenie" (Uncut Version) – Before Tim Burton gave us all nightmares, he created this electrifying short film that replaces Frankenstein's monster with a dog.
  • "What's This?" Jack's Haunted Mansion Tour – Take a ride through Jack's Haunted Mansion Holiday and see how Disney Imagineers transformed an iconic Disneyland attraction.
  • Tim Burton's Original Poem Narrated by Christopher Lee – Hear Hollywood legend Christopher Lee narrate the poem that inspired the movie. Set over illustrations based on Tim Burton's art.
  • Storyboard-to-Film Comparison – See the final version of Jack's Christmas pitch to the people of Halloween Town next to the original storyboards.

Magnolia and Shudder are prepping Steven Degennaro's Found Footage 3D starring Carter Roy, Alena Von Stroheim, and Chris O'Brien for Blu-ray on September 4. The release will come with retro anaglyph 3D glasses and supplements will include:

  • Commentary with Producers Scott Weinberg, Randi Ludwig & Charles MulfordTrailer

Ministry of Cinema is bringing Bradley Weatherholt's documentary The Prequels Strike Back: A Fan's Journey featuring Mike Klimo, Chris Gore, and Kevin Smith to Blu-ray on September 14. No supplements are currently listed for the release.

 

Lionsgate has announced plans to release Matty Beckerman's The Row starring Lala Kent, Randy Couture, Natali Yura, and Dylan Sprayberry on September 25. Supplements will include:

In addition, the studio is preparing Stephen King's Maximum Overdrive starring Emilio Estevez, Pat Hingle, Laura Harrington, and Yeardley Smith for Blu-ray on October 23. Supplements will include:
