There's plenty of overlap between the two, which means you have a decent shot at seeing both.
'The Hobbit' is kind of a big deal and it's not just because Peter Jackson is tackling more Tolkien. The movie is also an experiment in cinema technology like a frame rate of 48 per second, the inclusion of Dolby Atmos and, of course, 3D.
There are 450 theaters that will be showing the HFR (high frame rate) version of the movie, and a select number of those feature Dolby Atmos surround sound. There are a few lists floating around online, but we found the pdf compiled at to be the best.
