More rumors related to the new Apple TV set-top box are trickling in, implying possible gaming, wireless router, and cable TV features.
As previously reported, rumors indicate that Apple is getting ready to release a new version of its Apple TV set-top box later this year, and now, according to a report from 9to5Mac, possible details about the device's updated features are starting to leak.
The next generation Apple TV is rumored to include new gaming capabilities and will likely be able to use iPads, iPhones and iPods as controllers. In addition, reports indicate that the set-top box could also offer some type of TV tuner integration, allowing users to connect their cable box to the device in order to watch TV through the Apple interface. Finally, the new Apple TV might also include a built-in 802.11ac wireless router.
While the company is said to be testing all of these features, for now it's unclear whether or not they will make the finished product. Likewise, an official release date and pricing for the new Apple TV have not been revealed, but if these rumors pan out, Apple's updated set-top box will hit stores within the next six months. The current Apple TV is available now for a suggested retail price of $99.
