The streaming DVR device can now send content to a Chromecast.

Simple.TV has announced an update to its iOS and Android apps for its streaming DVR box. The revised apps now allow users to stream live and recorded over-the-air broadcast content to a Google Chromecast.

The Simple.TV by SiliconDust features a dual tuner with an HDTV Antenna Input, a ClearQAM Cable Input, an Ethernet connection, and a USB 2.0 connection for recording media to external storage. Through supported iOS, Android, and PC/Mac apps, you can stream live TV, record shows, and then watch them anywhere. The DVR's TV server capabilities allow for live and recorded streaming to up to 5 devices at the same time, and the dual tuner makes it possible to watch one show and record another simultaneously. The new Chromecast support joins previously supported devices like the Roku 3 and Apple TV. In addition to the updated apps, the company has also launched an offline viewing mode for the device, giving users the option to transfer recorded content to a PC or Mac.

The Simple.TV Streaming DVR box is now on sale at Amazon for $190 (24 percent off its retail price of $250). The Google Chromecast is currently available for $34.49.
