Amazon's original programs will be available in 4K on Samsung Ultra HD TVs.

Samsung has announced a launch window for 4K Prime Instant Video support. The arrival of Amazon Ultra HD playback will be part of a larger push for more 4K media.

"The era of UHD has begun, and to continue even more widespread adoption, it is important to provide consumers with more choices when it comes to UHD content," said Won Jin Lee, Executive Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. "We are providing our customers with a wider array of UHD content to enjoy on our ultra-immersive Curved UHD TVs."

4K streaming for Amazon original shows is expected to begin globally in October. In addition, Samsung TVs already support Netflix Ultra HD playback, which includes 4K streaming for shows like 'House of Cards' and 'Breaking Bad.' Likewise, the company is working hard to expand its Ultra HD ecosystem in Europe and has already helped bring live 4K broadcasts to South Korea. Finally, Samsung also offers its own UHD Video Pack that comes pre-loaded with several 4K movies.

Though an October launch has been revealed, an exact date for the start of Amazon 4K streaming has not been revealed, and it's unclear when Prime Ultra HD playback will be available on other TVs and devices.
