McIntosh Unveils RS200 Wireless Loudspeaker System
The company's next-gen wireless 2-channel speaker system has been revealed.
McIntosh has announced the launch of its latest home audio device. The RS200 Wireless Loudspeaker System is designed to offer room-filling sound from a variety of streaming sources and wired legacy devices.
Marked by classic McIntosh design flourishes, the 650 Watt audio system features a black glass front panel, illuminated logo, control knobs, and a pair of blue Watt meters. Under the hood, the unit incorporates 8 drivers, including (2) 4” x 6" woofers, (4) 2" midranges, and (2) ¾" tweeters. And for users who want a little extra bass, the device also includes a subwoofer output to connect to an external powered subwoofer. Likewise, users can add surround speakers to the system as well via a pair of separate McIntosh Play-Fi compatible RS100 Wireless Speakers.
Wireless connectivity options include Wi-Fi; Apple AirPlay 2; DTS Play-Fi; DNLA; and Bluetooth 5.0 with support for AAC, Qualcomm aptX HD, and Qualcomm aptX Low Latency. Meanwhile, wired connectivity options include an audio-only HDMI input; an optical input; a USB Type-B input; and a 3.5mm AUX input. And though the system does not include built-in microphones of its own, the RS200 is "Works With Alexa Certified" for voice control via a separate Amazon device. Finally, the speaker also offers a 3-position EQ switch to better suit playback to a user's specific room and preferences.
