Reports indicate that the online retailer is planning to open its first brick-and-mortar store later this year.
According to a report from the The Wall Street Journal, Amazon will open its first physical store just in time for the upcoming holiday shopping season. The store will be located on 34th street in Manhattan right across from the Empire State Building.
New York customers will be able to order products online from Amazon and then pick them up from the store later that same day. Likewise, the store will also handle returns and exchanges. Furthermore, a physical location will also allow the company to highlight and demo its various gadgets, including the Fire TV media player, Fire HDX tablets, and Fire Phone.
An exact opening date for the rumored store has not been announced yet, and it's unclear whether the company has plans to launch additional shops in more locations.
