Amazon will support the 'Killer Instinct' game developer's current commitments.
Double Helix, the developer behind the new 'Killer Instinct' and the upcoming 'Strider,' has been acquired by the mega online shopping giant, Amazon. Though a formal announcement is expected, Amazon had this to share with TechCrunch, "Amazon has acquired Double Helix as part of our ongoing commitment to build innovate games for customers."
Whether or not this confirms rumors of an Android-powered Amazon console remains to be seen. With Amazon delving further into producing content for its burgeoning Kindle business, having a Double Helix on hand along with its new engine, talent and a few IPs to create or resurrect a video game franchise gives the company an option beyond the fledgling Amazon Game Studios.
